Travel English – Difficulty Understanding
Hi there everyone, a few useful phrases for when you don’t understand what someone is saying to you.
First of all, when you didn’t hear what someone said or you couldn’t understand.
“I’m sorry, I didn’t catch that.”
“Excuse me?”
“I beg your pardon?”
“I’m afraid I don’t really understand.”
Secondly, when you want someone to repeat themselves or make a request of them.
“Sorry, could you say that again please?”
“Excuse me could you repeat that please?”
“Would you mind speaking more slowly please?”
When you want to check that what you heard was correct.
“So you mean my flight is cancelled?
“So what you’re saying is I can’t reschedule?”
“Just to double check, you’re saying that there is no record of my reservation?”

聞いたことが合っているか確認したいとき。
“それで、私の航空券はキャンセルされたということですか？”
“それであなたは、調整できないと言ったんでしょうか？”
“ダブルチェックさせてください、あなたは私の予約履歴がないと言いましたか？”
