Give Directions
Hello there, hope you’re having a productive week. The topic in most of our group classes will be “Giving directions”. We’re going to practice Asking and Giving directions to a stranger in town or a friend, to a place of interest.
In this lesson we will
(1) Learn/review locational phrases (across from the stadium/at the corner of A and B…)
(2) Using indirect questions instead of direct ones to sound more polite ( direct: Where’s the station? indirect: Do you know/Could you tell me where the station is?
(3) Learn/review and practice usage of directional phrases (Go down the street, turn right at the convenience store/Make another right after Kensington Kindergarten)
Task: You’re having a BBQ at your house. Invite your classmate(s) and give directions to your home (*fiction…not your real address*)

Give Directions（道を教える）
みなさん、こんにちは。実り多い１週間をお過ごしでしょうか。
今日は「Give Directions（道を教える）」というレッスントピックについてご紹介します。
このレッスンでは街の見知らぬ人や友人へ、道を尋ねたり教えたりする練習をします。
（1）場所に関するフレーズを学習／確認します
・across from the stadium [スタジアムの向い]
・at the corner of A and B… [AとBが交わる角に]）
（2）直接的ではなく間接的に質問をして、より丁寧に聞こえるようにします
・直接的：Where’s the station? (駅はどこですか？)
・間接的：Do you know/Could you tell me where the station is? (駅がどこか分かりますか？／駅がどこか教えていただけませんか？)
（3）方向に関するフレーズを学び、確認・練習をします
・Go down the street (通りを進んで、この先に)
・turn right at the convenience store/Make another right after Kensington Kindergarten ( (コンビニで右に曲がって、ケンジントン幼稚園の直後にまた右に曲がる)
タスク：あなたは家でバーベキューをしています。クラスメートを招待し、自宅への道順を教えてください（*実際の住所でなくて大丈夫です。*）
