This week’s bizspeak we’re going to change two negative sounding words into positive sounding ones.
1.problem…challenge
Yumi: Keita, can you give us a brief update on the Kensington Digital Data center project?
Negative:
Keita: We’re having some problems with the new software, I’m afraid.
Positive:
Keita: We have some challenges with the new software, we’ve called the IT team for assistance.
2. Difficult/hard……Challenging
Yumi: Hey Keita, can you finish the Kensington DDC report by Thursday next week?
Negative:
Keita: With two of our team members sick, it’ll be difficult.
Positive:
Keita: With two of our team members sick, it’ll be challenging but we can get it done by Friday morning.

1. problem → challenge

(ケイタ、ケンジントンデジタルデータセンタープロジェクトの最新情報を手短に教えてください。)
【ネガティブな言い方】
ケイタ：We’re having some problems with the new software, I’m afraid.
(残念ながら、新しいソフトウェアで問題が発生しています。)
【ポジティブな言い方】
ケイタ：We have some challenges with the new software, we’ve called the IT team for assistance.
(新しいソフトウェアにはいくつかの課題があるので、ITチームに支援を求めました。)
2. difficult / hard → challenging
ユミ：Hey Keita, can you finish the Kensington DDC report by Thursday next week?
(ねえケイタ、来週の木曜日までにケンジントンDDCレポートを終えることができますか？)
【ネガティブな言い方】
ケイタ：With two of our team members sick, it’ll be difficult.

【ポジティブな言い方】

(チームメンバーの２名が病気なので、チャレンジング[困難だがやりがいのある]ですが、金曜日の朝までには終わらせることができます。)
