How to use “not the best of”

Hello everyone,
Our topic for this week is “Best of the Year” so I would like to share with you an expression using the word “best”.

It’s “not the best of (noun)” and it’s a soft and natural way of saying that something is not good. For example: “That’s not the best of ideas”. Please be careful to use the noun in its plural form. “That’s not the best of ideas” (we say ideas NOT idea).

Ex. I didn’t have the best of weeks last week. My cat died and I fractured my arm. I really miss my cat 🙁

今週のテーマは「Best of the Year（今年のベスト）」なので、「Best」を使った表現をご紹介したいと思います。

not the best of + 名詞

これは、何かが良くないことを柔らかく自然に伝える言い方です。
例えば、That’s not the best of ideas. (それはあまり良いアイディア[最高のアイディア]ではありません。)

名詞を複数形で言うことにご注意ください。
That’s not the best of ideas.
「idea」ではなく「ideas」を使います。

[例文]
I didn’t have the best of weeks last week. My cat died and I fractured my arm. I really miss my cat 🙁
(先週はあまり良い週ではありませんでした。私の猫が亡くなり、腕を骨折しました。私は猫が本当に恋しい。)
