日常英会話レッスン – a few, a little, few, littleの正しい使い方

Hi there everyone, today I’d like to show you something that a lot of people seem to get confused and that is how to use a few, a little, few, and little.

First of all, a few

We use this to talk about a small number of a countable noun

e.g: I only have a few days left in Fukuoka then I have to go back to Osaka.

Next, a little

We use this to talk a small amount of an uncountable noun

e.g: We only have a little milk left, please pick some up on the way home.

Next, few

We use few in a with countable nouns to emphasise that the amount is small.

e.g: I have few friends in this town.

In the same way, we use little to emphasise that there is a small amount of something which is uncountable.

e.g There is little rain in the east of the country during summer.

みなさんこんにちは。今日はいろんな人が混乱しているa few, a little, few, そしてlittleの使い方について話します。

まず最初にa few

a fewは可算名詞の少ないことを話す時に使います。

（例）福岡には数日だけ滞在して、すぐに大阪に戻らないといけない。

次は a little

a littleは不可算名詞の少ないことを話す時に使います。

（例）ミルクが少ししかないから、帰りに買ってきてもらえるかな？

次に few

fewは可算名詞を使う時で、量が少ないことを強調する時に使います。

（例）この街では友達がほとんどいません。

同じように、littleは不可算名詞を使う時で量が少ないことを強調する時に使います。

（例）夏の間、この国の東部ではほとんど雨が降らない。

今週末のレッスン内容- Bucket list

Hello there everyone, this weekend’s lessons in Akasaka and Ropponmatsu will be “ Bucket list” bucket list just really means a list of things you would like to do in your lifetime and that is simply what we will be talking about. We will be discussing the things you wanted to do as a child and whether you got to do them or not, the things that you have on your list now, and the things you have crossed off the list so far. In the upper level classes we will also be discussing the merits and demerits of bucket lists and the difference between, a hope, a dream, and an ambition.

みなさんこんにちは。赤坂校、六本松校での今週末のレッスン内容は、「バケットリスト」です。バケットリストとは、人生の中であなたがしたいことのリストを意味しています。そして、バケットリストについて話します。子どもの時にしたかったことや、しなきゃいけなかったこと、しなくてよかったこと、今みなさんのバケットリストに載せていること、今までそのリストから消したことについて話します。上のクラスでは、バケットリストのメリットとデメリット、そして、希望、夢、大望の違いについて話します。
