日常英会話レッスン -Jet lag/ Time difference

Hello again, well I’ve been back from the UK for a week now and hopefully my jet lag has fully cleared up. There is an 9 hour time difference between here and there.

Here are a couple of examples of how to use these two phrases.

When I travelled from LA to Sydney I had the worst jet lag ever, it took me a full week to recover!

We always have to plan our video conferences very carefully due to the time difference between all the participating branch offices.

Rina’s blog – B’z のライブに行ってきました！

みなさんこんにちは！
先日福岡であったB’zのライブに行ってきました^^

私自身そんなにファンなわけではなかったのですが、B’z好きの主人とチケットを頑張ってゲットして行ってきました♪

ライブ前の1週間はひたすらB’zに浸り、しっかり予習をして臨みました笑。
今回は数年に一度の、昔の曲を選曲して行う記念のライブだったので
昔聞いていた曲も多く、とにかく本当に稲葉さんが神レベルでかっこよかったです。。

一昨年は X JAPANのライブに行ってそのあとからXの大ファンになってしまったのですが、(笑)
今度は今さらながらB’zの大ファンになりました。

うちは夫婦10個年が離れているので、音楽の世代が全く合わず、、XもB’zもきっと自分では行かなかっただろな～と思うのですが、やっぱり30年以上も愛されるバンドにはそれなりの理由がありますね。
本当に行ってよかったです!!!

しばらくはまたB’zに浸ります。笑
最高の夏の思い出になりました！

How to study English – Learn related words

A good way to increase your vocabulary is to learn related words. For example, if you just learned the word “care”, don’t stop there! Use a dictionary or the internet to find derivatives of that word, and expressions that use it.

For example: careful, carefree, careless, take care! See? You started with one word but quickly discovered four more, and because their meaning is related, it is easier to understand and remember what each one means.

英語の勉強法ー関連する語を学ぼう

あなたの語彙力を増やすのにいい方法は、関連語を学ぶことです。例えば、”care”という単語を学んだとしたら、そこで終わらないでください！辞書やネットを使ってその単語の派生語や、その単語が含まれた表現を見つけてください。

例えば、careful, carefree, careless, take care!　など。ほら、始めはひとつの単語だったのに、一気に4つ以上も学べたでしょう？それに意味が関連しているので理解するのがより簡単ですしひとつひとつの意味を覚えやすいです。

Travel English – My holiday in Goto

Hello everyone,

The summer has ended and hopefully the weather will be cooler from now on. This summer Jaimie and I decided to take things a little bit slowly as our lives had been especially hectic from January to mid-June.

On July 28th, my family and I took the night ferry to the Goto islands. We arrived at 6am the next day at the Nakadori island and stayed at a camping ground near the Hamaguri beach.

My family and I spent 5 wonderful days in Goto, having daily barbeques, driving around the island, going on a short cruise, going to the beach, catching insects, enjoying Goto udon, looking at the starry sky and playing games.

They are a very beautiful destination quite near Fukuoka so I recommend you visit them too. As for us, we’ll definitely visit the Goto islands again.

トラベル英会話ー五島での休日

みなさんこんにちは。夏が終わってしまいました。これから少し涼しくなってくれることを期待しています。今年の1月から6月の半ばまで特にものすごく忙しかったので、Jaimieと私はこの夏はゆっくりしようと決めました。

7月28日、私と家族は五島までの夜間フェリーを使い次の日の朝6時になかどり島に着き、蛤浜ビーチの近くでキャンプをしました。

私の家族と私は五島で5日間とても素敵な時を過ごしました。バーベキューをし、島をドライブし、少しクルーズしたりビーチに行き虫を捕まえたり、五島うどんを楽しみ、星空を眺め、ゲームをしたりしました。

五島は福岡から近くとても美しい場所ですので、みなさんにもおすすめします。私たちは必ずまた五島に訪れるでしょう。
