Hello there everyone!

The topic for our classes this weekend in Akasaka, Nishijin, Yakuin and our online classes is luck. We will be talking about whether we consider ourselves to be lucky or not and why, talking about lucky or unlucky experiences we have had in the past and discussing superstitions. Sounds like an action packed class to me.

Study Advice / How to make most of your lessons
Quizlet

Hello there everyone, as you may have noticed Quizlet, the learning app that we have been using up to now has become a bit persistent in trying to get you to join their paid service Quizlet Plus and I can tell you that you can ignore that completely. Unfortunately some of the functions have become limited such as test and write and one of the functions called gravity has disappeared completely. 

You can still access the flashcard and match functions limitlessly though and If Quizlet is telling you you can only access the first several lines of text you can tap単語カード If you have any trouble with any of these things please let us know and we will do our best to help you out.

みなさん、こんにちは。
お気づきかもしれませんが、ケンジントン英会話で使っている学習アプリ「Quizlet」は、有料プランである「Quizlet Plus」にアップグレードさせようと少ししつこくなっています。
ですが、それらは完全に無視してかまいません。
残念ながら、「テスト」や「筆記」など一部の機能が制限され、「グラビティ」と呼ばれる機能が完全になくなりました。

ですが、「単語カード」と「マッチ」という機能は引き続き無制限に使うことができます。
Quizlet がカードの最初の いくつかにしかアクセスできない場は、「単語カード」をタップしてご利用ください。

「単語カード」であれば、全てのカードを見ることができます。
もし何か問題がある場合は、お知らせください。最善を尽くしてお手伝いいたします。

Talk about myself/my hometown/my country
Mt Fuji Here I Didn’t Come!

Well, that was the second time I’ve visited Mount Fuji and not only did I not climb it, I didn’t even see it this time. In fact, I hardly even saw it last time. It was a fun trip though, I caught up with a couple of good friends who left Fukuoka in 2021, drank some great beers at the Baird Beer Brewery in Shizuoka, and generally had a blast. 

The problem was the weather. It rained so heavily the day we were supposed to climb that we could hardly drive the car up the motorway and the mountain hut I booked actually called me and advised me not to climb. Second day got up early ready to go and the closer we got to the foot of the mountain the worse the weather got until it was obvious we were going nowhere. Day number 3 was exactly the same sadly. Still, it isn’t the end of the world and I got myself in amazing shape before the climb so it was worth it just for that. I did spend a fair bit of cash on climbing gear so I’ll probably try again next year. Watch this space!

私の出身地、私自身～講師の自己紹介
Mt Fuji Here I Didn’t Come!

ええと、富士山に行くのは今回で2回目でしたが、今回は登らなかったどころか、見ることさえ出来ませんでした。実は、前回もほとんど見れていません。
旅行は楽しかったですけどね。去年に福岡を離れた仲の良い友人たちと久しぶりに会って話し、静岡のベアードビール醸造所で素晴らしいビールを飲み、とても楽しい時間を過ごしました。

問題は天候でした。登るはずだった日は大雨で、高速道路を車で登ることがほとんどできませんでした。予約した山小屋からは、富士山に登らないようにと電話で忠告されました。
2日目は早起きして準備を整えましたが、山のふもとに近づくほど天候が悪化し、私たちはどこにも行けないことが明白でした。
悲しいことに、3日目もまったく同じでした。
それでも、それは世界の終わりではなく、登山前に体の状態を素晴らしいものに整えたことには価値があります。
登山用具にかなりのお金を費やしたので、おそらく来年も挑戦します。

Making Small Talk

Hi there

This weekend the topic for our classes is making small talk. This may sound like an easy class but I have found that it actually requires a fair bit of work so be ready! The aim of the classes this weekend is to keep a natural conversation going just like we would for example at work on a Monday morning. We will discuss the weather, complementing each other’s amazing fashion choices, chatting about the  previous weekend’s events, and talking about upcoming plans. In part two we will need our imaginations switched on because we will be catching up with an old friend, discussing our lives in general, work, studies, and more!

Making Small Talk（世間話をする）

こんにちは。

今週末のレッスンのトピックは「Making Small Talk」です。
簡単なテーマのように聞こえるかもしれませんが、実際にはかなりの努力が必要なので、ぜひ準備をしてきてください。
このレッスンの目的は、たとえば月曜日の会社での朝のように、自然な会話を続けることです。
天気について話し、お互いの素晴らしいファッションのチョイスをほめ合い、先週末のイベントについて話し、今後のプランについて話します。
パート2では、想像力を働かせる必要があります。
古い友人と久しぶりに会って、お互いの生活全般、仕事、勉強などについて話し合うからです。

今週末、レッスンでお会いできるのを楽しみにしています。

What we are doing in Kensington
Autumn Campaign

Hello everyone,

I’d like to let you know that we have an autumn campaign running again this year and with Japan finally opening up to tourism and getting in and out of the country going back to semi normal again I’m sure some of you will be itching to travel and would like get as much English study in as you can before you head off to distant shores!

The campaign runs from this month to November 15th and you can take 4 private classes for 16,000 yen or 8 for 32,000. You will be able to take those classes anytime between now and the end of Jan 2023. 

If you are interested in taking some extra private classes, please feel free to contact us anytime.

日本がついに観光が解禁され、出入国が再びほとんど通常に戻ります。
