Service for beginners -how to use “would you like” at a restaurant

Hello everyone,

Do you work in the service industry? Are you also a beginner in English? Well in that case in addition to learning how to say “hello” with a big smile to your foreign customers you should also probably learn how to use “would you like”.

For example if you work at a restaurant (Which was our subject this weekend) see how many things you could say with only using “would you like”.

Where would you like to sit?
Would you like me to take your jacket?
Would you like something to drink?
Would you like to order?
Would you like to see the wine menu?
Would you like anything else?
How would you like it cooked?
How would you like it served?
Would you like to have dessert?
Would you like to have the bill?
How would you like to pay?
Would you like me to call you a taxi?
etc…..

英語の接客をカンタンにしてくれる魔法の言葉 “would you like”

みなさんこんにちは。

サービス業界で働いていらっしゃ いますか。そして英語は初心者でいらっしゃる？だとしたら、まず外国からのお客様に大きな笑顔とともに “Hello!” という言い方を覚えた後、次にお勧めしたいのは “would you like” （ご希望されますか）の使い方です。

例えばレストランにお勤めだとすると（これは今週のレッスントピックでもあります）、 “would you like” を使うだけでこんなにたくさんのことを話せるんですよ。

【例】どこにおかけになりますか。（どこに座るのを希望されますか。）
【例】ジャケットをお預かりしましょうか。（ジャケットをお預かりすることを希望されますか。）
【例】お飲み物はいかがでしょうか。（＝何か飲むものを希望されますか）
【例】ご注文なさいますか。（＝ご注文を希望されますか）
【例】ワインのメニューはいかがでしょうか。（＝ワインメニューを希望されますか）
【例】他にご希望はございますか。（＝何か他のものも希望されますか）
【例】調理はどのようにいたしましょうか。（＝どのように調理するのを希望されますか）
【例】どのようにお出しいたしましょうか。（＝どのようにお出しするのを希望されますか）
【例】デザートはいかがでしょうか。（＝デザートを希望されますか）
【例】お会計をお持ちしましょうか。（＝お会計を希望されますか）
【例】お支払いはいかがいたしましょうか。（＝お支払いはどのように希望されますか）
【例】タクシーをお呼びいたしましょうか。（＝タクシーをよぶよう希望されますか）
などなど。

Kids Academy in Sakurazaka is open on Thursdays too!

Hello everyone,

Today’s news relates to our kids school in Sakurazaka and Yakuin,

As our class student limit has been slightly reduced due to social distancing and as the Kensington Kids Academy is becoming more and more popular thanks to the stellar job of our Academy team, we’ll be starting Thursday Kindergarten classes too in our Sakurazaka school. The teachers will be Kori and Liam with Chiharu, Yuki or Yoshiko as our teaching assistants!

The academy classes tend to fill up pretty quickly so if you are interested in getting a fantastic education for your children, better let us know quickly!

ケンジントン・キッズアカデミー桜坂校、木曜日も開講決定！

みなさんこんにちは。

今日のニュースは、桜坂・薬院にあるケンジントンの子ども英語スクール「キッズアカデミー」についてです。

ソーシャル・ディスタンスの関係でクラス定員を減らしていること、また、キッズアカデミーの人気がスタッフの頑張りのおかけでだんだん高まっていることもあって、桜坂校では木曜日に幼稚園クラスを開講することになりました。講師はKori、Liam、またアシスタントはChiharu、Yuki、Yoshikoが担当します！

“Thank you for your mail.”

There are some ways to say “メール ありがとう” in English such as
Thank you for your mail.

if someone has replied to you, you can also say
Thank you for your reply/response.

if someone has replied to you quickly, you can also say
Thank you for your quick reply/response.

Please keep in mind that you can’t say.
Thank you for your quick mail. ← Wrong

you can also say
Thank you for contacting me.

if someone has replied to you quickly
Thank you for contacting me so soon.

英語で「メールを有難うございます」というには

「メールを有難うございます／ました」という場合には何通りかの言い方があります。例えば

まずは：「メールを有難うございました。」
返信をもらった場合には、「ご返信、有難うございました。」
迅速に返信をもらった際には、「早々のご返信を有難うございました。」
✘こちらは間違いの例：「素早いメールを有難うございます。」
こんな言い方も可能：「ご連絡くださり有難うございます。」
連絡が迅速な場合は：「早速ご連絡くださり有難うございます。」
