イギリス英語とアメリカ英語

Many people ask me if British people and American people can understand each other and the answer is yes.
Pronunciation may differ and some spelling and grammar are slightly different but because of the cross culture of films, books, music etc. we never have difficulty communicating.
Here are a few examples of differences.
イギリス人とアメリカ人はお互い何を言っているのか分かるのですか?とよく尋ねられるのですが、答えは「イエス」です。発音が異なる場合はありますし、綴りと文法も、少し違うところはあります。ですが、映画、本、音楽などでお互いの文化が入ってくるので、何を言っているのか分からずに困るということは、全くありません。イギリスとアメリカで異なるものの例を、いくつか挙げておきます。

Mother’s Day — 母の日

Happy Mother’s day from Kensington Eikaiwa.

        ケンジントン英会話から、母の日のお慶びを申し上げます。

We celebrate Mother’s day on the 4th Sunday of March in the U.K, but many countries around the world celebrate it today. Today’s celebration originates from the U.S.A. It is customary in western countries for mums to have a lie in today and for their kids or husbands to bring them breakfast in bed. They may also receive chocolates, cards, or flowers. What will you do for your mum today?
