このブログでは、私の空港での体験についてお話ししながら、旅行のときに役立つ英単語もご紹介します。空港はワクワクする場所ですが、特に海外旅行では、少し緊張したり不安になったりすることもありますよね。

私のお気に入りの空港と体験
私は飛行機に乗るのが大好きですが、ひとつだけ苦手なことがあります。それは、出発までに空港で3時間ほど待たなければならないことです。でも、ドバイ国際空港のようによく設計された空港なら、その待ち時間もそれほど苦になりません。実は、この空港は私のお気に入りの空港のひとつです。
ドバイ国際空港は、世界で最も利用者数の多い国際空港だと言われています。私はこれまで何度もドバイで乗り継ぎをしましたが、利用するたびに、とても清潔で近代的、そして使いやすい空港だと感じます。空港内にはたくさんのお店や快適な座席、レストランなど、さまざまな設備がそろっています。
最近、ドバイ国際空港を経由したとき、私はカフェに立ち寄って軽食とコーヒーを楽しみました。そこで働いていたスタッフのひとり、フィリピン出身と思われる女性が、とても親切でプロフェッショナルだったのが印象に残っています。彼女は、私のiPhone SEとカフェのコンセントの両方に合う充電アダプターを、わざわざ探してくれました。
空港で役立つ英語表現
国際線で役立つ英単語やフレーズをいくつかご紹介します。
Check-in counter（チェックインカウンター）
「チェックインカウンターはどこですか？」
Where is the check-in counter?
Boarding pass（搭乗券）
「こちらがあなたの搭乗券です。」
Here is your boarding pass.
Security check（保安検査）
「靴を脱いで、ベルトを外してください。」
Please take off your shoes and belt.
Departure / Arrival（出発 / 到着）
「出発・到着案内板を確認してください。」
Check the departure/arrival board.
Gate number（搭乗ゲート番号）
「あなたの搭乗ゲートは12番です。」
Your gate number is 12.
On time / Delayed（定刻通り / 遅延）
「飛行機は定刻通りです。」 / 「飛行機は遅れています。」
The flight is on time. / The flight is delayed.
Final call（最終案内）
「ただいま最終搭乗案内中です。」
This is the final call for boarding.
Customs（税関）
「申告するものはありますか？」
Do you have anything to declare?
Transfer / Transit（乗り継ぎ）
「私は東京行きの便に乗り継ぎます。」
I am in transit to Tokyo.

Staff: Please put your bags on the table.
スタッフ：バッグをテーブルの上に置いてください。

空港でのトラブルとアドバイス
空港では、時には物事がうまくいかないこともあります。たとえば、飛行機が遅れたり欠航になったりすることがあります。また、荷物が間違った目的地に送られてしまうこともあります。
最近、母国へ帰る旅行をしたとき、私の荷物が飛行機と一緒に届きませんでした。想像できると思いますが、とても困りましたし、かなりイライラしました。でも幸いなことに、荷物は翌日に自宅まで届けられました。
ここで、いくつかアドバイスをご紹介します。
・空港には早めに到着する
・出発前にフライトの時間を確認する
・パスポートとチケットは大切に保管する
・アナウンスをよく聞く
荷物についてできるだけ詳しく把握しておく（スーツケースやバッグのメーカー、種類、大きさ、色、中身など）
荷物が行方不明になったときに、その情報が必要になります。
しっかり準備しておけば、トラブルを避けやすくなります。
空港は、ワクワクする旅の始まりの場所です。忙しくて大変なこともありますが、新しい経験がたくさん待っています。役立つ英語を学び、しっかり準備をすることで、自信を持って旅行を楽しむことができます。

A Day at the Airport
Hello everyone! You must be already enjoying the warm spring weather and all the fun that comes with the beautiful season of spring. Have you traveled lately or are you planning to travel soon? In this blog, I will talk about my experiences at the airport and share some useful English words. Airports can be exciting but also a little stressful, especially when you travel abroad. Let’s learn together and feel more confident for your next trip!
My Favorite Airport and Experience
I love flying but one thing I hate about flying is the 3 hours or so we spend at airports waiting for the flight. However, well designed airports like the Dubai international airport, which happens to be one of my favorite airports, makes the pain of waiting bearable. Dubai is said to be the world’s busiest international airport. I’ve transited through Dubai many times and every time I use the airport, I find it very clean, modern, and easy to use. There were many shops, comfortable seats, restaurants and many other facilities. During a recent transit through Dubai Airport, I stopped at a café for a snack and some coffee. One of the staff members—a woman who seemed to be from the Philippines—was exceptionally kind and professional. She even went out of her way to find a charging adapter that would work with both my iPhone SE 3 and the café’s power outlet.
Useful English at the Airport
Here are some helpful English words and phrases for international flights:
- Check-in counter Where is the check-in counter?
- Boarding pass Here is your boarding pass.
- Security check Please take off your shoes and belt.
- Departure / Arrival Check the departure/arrival board.
- Gate number Your gate number is 12.
- On time / Delayed The flight is on time. / The flight is delayed.
- Final call This is the final call for boarding.

Problems at the Airport & Tips
Sometimes, things don’t go well at the airport. For example, flights can be delayed or canceled. Your luggage may be sent to the wrong destination… On my recent trip back to my home country, my luggage didn’t arrive with my flight. As you can imagine, I was pretty upset and frustrated. Fortunately, it was delivered to my residence the next day.
Here is some advice:
- Arrive early at the airport
- Check your flight time before you go
- Keep your passport and ticket safe
- Listen carefully to announcements
- Know as much details about your luggage as possible (make and model of suitcase or bag, size, color, content etc) That info will be needed when you’re reporting it missing.
Being prepared can help you avoid problems.
Airports are the start of an exciting journey. They can be busy, but they are also full of new experiences. By learning useful English and preparing well, you can travel with confidence.
