ファストフードの楽しみを、、、英語で！
ファストフードについて話しましょう！ハンバーガー、フライドチキン、ピザだったり、日本でいうと牛丼、ラーメン、弁当など、みんなお気に入りの店があるはずです。ファストフードは手軽で安く、美味しいものが食べたいけど料理する時間がない時にぴったりです。ただ食べ過ぎには気をつけてください！ケンジントンにいる2人のアメリカ人教師のうちの一人として、この記事でファストフードについて話す際に役立つ英語のフレーズをいくつかご紹介する資格は十分にあると思います。これからお伝えする表現は、友達との会話やSNS投稿、ケンジントンの英語クラスでの練習に便利です。
忘れられないファストフード店
“Let’s go to McDonald’s!”
「マクドナルドに行こう！」
これは誰かを食事に誘うときの自然な表現です。
“I really like Burger King’s fries.”
「バーガーキングのフライドポテトがとっても好きです。」
「フライドポテト」の箇所は好きなものに置き換えてください。ハンバーガー、ナゲット、ミルクシェイクなどでもOK！
“I usually order a meal.”
「普段はセットを注文します。」
普段どんな注文をするか話す時に便利な表現です。「セット」とは和製英語で「meal」を指します。つまり、フライドポテトや飲み物が付いてくる注文のことです。
追加のフレーズ：“You want fries with that?”
「フライドポテトもいっしょにいかがですか？」これは、ほぼ全てのファストフード店の従業員がカウンターでお客さんに尋ねるフレーズです。ハンバーガーやメインディッシュだけではなく、セットメニューを希望かどうかを尋ねる、よりカジュアルな言い方です。
店内でお召し上がりですか？それともお持ち帰りですか？
“Can I get this to go, please?”
「持ち帰りでお願いできますか？」
店内ではなくテイクアウトを希望する場合に必要なフレーズです。
“Let’s eat here.”
「お店で食べよう。」
”素敵な”レストランで食事を楽しみたいという気持ちを伝えるシンプルな表現です。
デリバリーの日々（家を出るのが面倒な日！）
“Let’s order pizza tonight!”
「今夜はピザを頼もう！」
気軽にフードデリバリーを提案する言い方です。特に友達と過ごすときなどいいですね。
“I usually order delivery when I’m too tired to cook.”
「疲れて料理が出来ない時は、大抵デリバリーを頼みます。」
このフレーズは、どうして、いつ、デリバリーを選ぶのかを説明するのに最適です。
“Let’s just Uber Eats it!”
「Uber Eatsで頼んじゃおう！」
外食せずに食べ物を注文しようという提案の簡単な表現です。
メモ：この文では人気デリバリー「Uber Eats」が動詞として使われています。
ファストフードの思い出
アメリカでは、ファストフード店は日本より気楽な雰囲気があります。例えば、マクドナルドでマックダブルをビッグマックソース付きで注文したり、そういうカスタマイズのリクエストをしても大抵問題ありませんでした。深夜には、店員が「レジはもう閉めたから、これはサービスで。」と言って無料で提供してくれたことも何度かありました。ちなみに興味があれば、お気に入りのファストフード店名に「裏メニュー」と続けて検索してみてください。どんな奇妙な組み合わせで注文できるか分かるでしょう！
日本ではファストフードはより標準化され、清潔で、一貫性があります。カスタマイズ注文は一般的ではありませんが、品質は全体的にずっと高いです。提供される料理はメニューの写真とほぼ同じ見た目になることが多く、これはアメリカではほぼ絶対にありえません！

Let’s talk about fast food! Everyone has their go-to spot, whether it’s burgers, fried chicken, pizza, or in Japan, gyudon, ramen, or bento boxes. Fast food is quick, affordable, and perfect for when you’re craving something tasty but don’t have time to cook. Just try not to eat too much of it! In this article, as one of Kensington’s two American teachers, I think I’m more than qualified to show you some useful English phrases you can use to talk about fast food. These expressions are handy when chatting with friends, posting online, or practicing in English class at Kensington.
A Fast Food Place You Can’t Forget
“Let’s go to McDonald’s!”
This is a very natural way to invite someone to grab a meal together.
“I really like Burger King’s fries.”
You can replace “fries” with anything you enjoy. Could be burgers, nuggets, or even milkshakes!
“I usually order a meal.”
This phrase is useful if you want to talk about your standard order. “Meal” refers to what’s known as a “set” in wasei-eigo. This means your order will come with fries and a drink.
Bonus Phrase:
“You want fries with that?”
This is a phrase that almost all fast food employees will ask you at the counter. It’s a more casual way of asking a customer if they’d like a meal instead of just the burger or main dish.
Would you like that for here or to go?
“Can I get this to go, please?”
This is the phrase you’ll need if you want takeout instead of eating inside the restaurant.
“Let’s eat here.”
A simple way to say you’d rather enjoy the food inside the “fine” dining establishment of your choice.
Delivery Days (Too Lazy to Leave the House!)
“Let’s order pizza tonight!”
A fun and casual way to suggest food delivery, especially when hanging out with friends.
“I usually order delivery when I’m too tired to cook.”
This phrase is great for explaining the situation for when and why you choose to get food delivered.
“Let’s just Uber Eats it!”
An easy expression for suggesting you order instead of going out to pick up some food. Note that “Uber Eats,” the name of the popular delivery app, is used as a verb in this sentence.
My Fast Food Memory
In the U.S., fast food restaurants often feel more laid-back. For example, I used to order a McDouble with Big Mac sauce at McDonald’s, and custom requests like that were usually no problem. Late at night, it even happened a few times where staff would say, “The register’s already closed, so this one’s on the house,” meaning we got the food for free. Also, if you’re curious, look up your fast food restaurant of choice followed by “underground menu” to see what kind of crazy concoctions you can order!
In Japan, fast food is more standardized, clean, and consistent. Custom orders aren’t common, but the quality is generally much higher. The food you get usually looks just like the photo on the menu, something that almost never happens in the States!
