Technology is everywhere these days. From the smartphones in our pockets to the laptops on our desks, it’s hard to imagine life without these kinds of gadgets. What piece of technology do you use the most? For me, it’s my phone. I use it all day, every day, to text friends, take photos, and of course, “doomscroll” through Instagram. In this article, we’ll learn some useful expressions and phrases you can use when talking about technology.
Useful Phrases When Talking About Technology
“I think smartphones have changed our lives.”
This is a good phrase when talking about the big impact of new technology. Smartphones let us stay connected with friends and family anytime, anywhere. However, whether this impact has been for better or for worse, is debatable.
“I usually watch YouTube videos on my phone.”
As we all have a variety of different gadgets like smartphones, tablets, or laptops, explaining how (on what device) you watch videos can be very useful. Replace “YouTube” with Netflix, TikTok, or even online lessons!
Note that we use different words depending on what gadget you’re using, and what type of content you’re consuming. For example, if you’re watching YouTube or Netflix, as in, your phone is sideways, we use “watch.” If you’re just scrolling or checking something on your phone, we tend to use “look.”
